Welcome to Splat Town!

Work with your goo buddy to take over the town by spewing goo. Cover the ground in paint-like goo with this shared AR experience. This is a submission to the Lightship ARDK "Explore together" challenge.

Explore your town

Together with your gooey buddy, you collect energy to build up stamina so you can take over a location.

Leave goo for everyone to find

Manage your energy wisely! You have limited reserves, used both for deploying your team's goo and bubbles for cleaning up opponent goo.

Compete with your community

Goo-spew is saved in realtime to remote servers, so all players see the same goo-spew in any given location at the same time as other players.

View who is controlling any given landmark from afar by the color of the marker - see a detailed breakdown of how much goo coverage each team has at this location.

Key Features & Tech Stack

Using lightship ARDK in unity, we leverage the database of VPS locations to indicate noteworthy locations on the map, showing images when users engage with the locations. Once entering AR in a VPS location, we use meshing to allow the player to spray goo onto physical surfaces. Each individual goo-ball metaball reflects the shared coordinates system of that VPS location and saved to a firebase database. Then when any players return to this location, they see individual previously placed goo (metaballs) that they can then clean up or spew more. Individual sites calculate the team with the most goo, and within regular intervals of longitude/latitude coordinates, we calculate the overall neighborhood's team rankings.
